"Hello everybody.
It’s over again. The Winterclash 2010 is history and most of you are already back home again.
With the Winterclash 2010 we tried to carry the biggest core scene event in Rollerblading to the public eye and media. We weren’t sure if this was the right decision since there was a chance that the Winterclash would lose some of its spirit and atmosphere but still we decided to give it a try since we think that it was time to let “outsiders” know about what we do.
Everything started with choosing the right event venue, the right skatepark and also with promoting it to the non-rolling crowd in Berlin. In the end we were working in a team of 5 people, day and night in the office, trying to realize our idea of a proper Winterclash.
Last Wednesday the building of the park, grandstand and the whole sound and light equipment started and over all we had around 30+ people working hard to make it happen. More than 30 volunteers and a strong team of coordinators created something, which finally can really be called an “EVENT”!
Now, three days after the Winterclash 2010 it seems like it was worth the effort.
What happened in Berlin beat all our expectations and except for a couple of problems we are definitely happy with the outcome of the event. More Rollerbladers than ever found their way to the Winterclash and even if we were a bit afraid in the beginning, the atmosphere was incredible once again. And not just that, the atmosphere was better than anything we’ve ever seen at a Rollerblading event. Where else would you see a streaker running almost naked through the skatepark, people starting a party at the grandstand and where else can you see Rollerblading at such a high level?
Your feedback has been amazing and it seems like you had a brilliant time again. The media loved the event and potential sponsors now know what to expect, when they receive the next sponsoring concept.
Even if right now we are trying to come to terms with an (incredibly) huge financial loss, we still believe that this was the much needed step into the right direction and together with you and our industry we will try our best to continue.
Anyway… Enough for now!
Again we want to send out our thank you to you guys! You made it happen and created a party, which isn’t comparable to anything else out there! Thanks to our sponsors and thanks to every single person who helped us realize the Winterclash 2010.
Oh yeah…We also want to thank the guys from Switzerland, France and Scotland (you (and we) know who you are) who tagged the whole toilet, caused trouble around the arena, destroyed things and added a bitter taste to the event.
And last but not least we want to thank Stephane Alfano for proving once again that he is the man.
In case this wasn’t clear enough right after your action we would like you to have this in written: Banned for life!
Thanks everybody. We had a great time and if we are able to deal with the financial trouble, we will be back soon. Next time, bigger time!
The Winterclash Team! "
